Tourist Destinations
There are potential and actual tourist destinations in the Region, categorized based on the following facts among others:

The status of the attractions: ( i.e. promoted and relatively known, presence of universally significance (world heritage sites)),

Available tourist facilities and infrastructures (Hotels, lodges, restaurants, roads (leading to the attraction sites), banking, electricity, telephone etc).

The types of tourists arrival in each areas (recreation, religious, holiday, conference, business etc) and
-
Tourist flow or number (foreigner & domestics),
Accordingly, the tourists destination of the Region have classified in to actual destination (where many tourists actually travel to the sites) and potential destinations (where some or a few tourist travel to the area).
The northern and most southern zones are relatively developed in tourism industry where as the rest of the zones are highly potential in terms of tourism resources but the list visited indicating much work need to be done in terms of facilities and infrastructures so as to exploit the resources for social and economic development through promoting sustainable development. |
